WILLMAR, Minn. – A Willmar man is sentenced to more than six years in prison for driving drunk and killing a pedestrian in December of 2023.
A Kandiyohi County judge sentenced 34-year-old Paulo Portillo to six years and three months in prison for criminal vehicular homicide-leaving the scene of an accident. Portillo was given credit for time served.
Portillo struck and killed 52-year-old Jason Jarvis of Cokato Dec. 26, 2023 and then fled the scene. He turned himself in to police one month later.
Portillo pleaded guilty last November.
