MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Moorhead Fire crews responded to two calls reported within a half-hour of one another Thursday night.
The first call was to a house in the 1700 block of 5th Street S. shortly before 7:30 p.m. Heavy smoke was coming from the back of the home and flames had spread up the siding to the soffit.
Firefighters had the fire out before it spread to the attic. No one was hurt in the fire.
A spokesman for the department says fire damage was limited to the outside of the house, but there was some water and smoke damage inside. The cause of that fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.
While crews were responding to the house fire, the second call came in around 7:50 p.m.
Callers said there was a fire in the 1200 block of 34th Street Circle S. and people were trapped in their apartment. Crews from Fargo and Dilworth responded to help.
The Moorhead Fire spokesman says a sprinkler in the hallway of the building activated, but the department is not sure why because firefighters didn’t find a fire.
