FARGO (KFGO) – A northern North Dakota man will spend 30 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.
The U.S. Justice Department says 41-year-old Cole Jeanotte of Belcourt began sexually abusing the girl in 2012 into 2013 when she was seven. Jeanotte threatened to hurt the girl’s mother if the girl told what happened.
The girl told her mother about the abuse in 2020.
“Jeanotte committed a heinous crime against a defenseless child, and (this) sentence reflects the gravity of that offense,” Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. of FBI Minneapolis. “Protecting the most vulnerable members of our society – especially children – is one of the FBI’s highest priorities. We remain steadfast in our commitment to working with our partners to bring predators to justice and protect children from harm.”
Jeanotte pleaded guilty to the abuse.
