HORACE, N.D. (KFGO-KVRR) – A group of fifteen homeowners in Horace is suing the city over special assessments.
Their attorney claims the city is violating North Dakota law with extraordinarily high special assessments that could be cause them to lose their homes. They also claim a history of improper communication and that the city neglected to notify them of the special assessment process.
Attorney Brandon Erickson says many won’t be able to pay the special assessments.
Erickson is requesting a jury trial. He says the goal is having the special assessments declared illegal under North Dakota law.
