ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO WCCO) โ Say goodbye to โThe X.โ After 25 years, the home of the Minnesota Wild will no longer be called Xcel Energy Center. The teamโs home arena has been named by Xcel since the franchise came into existence.
The franchise has announced a new multi-year partnership with Xcel Energy but as part of the new agreement, the existing arena naming rights agreement with Xcel Energy will end this summer.
โWe are extremely thankful for our 25-year naming and team marketing rights partnership with Xcel Energy,โ said Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold in a statement. โXcel Energy has been an incredible supporter of our team since our inaugural season, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with them on a number of unique community initiatives as part of our new, long-term partnership.โ
Xcel will still be a partner with the Wild, they just wonโt have their name on the building. The building is also home to the Minnesota Frost and a number of other big events like concerts, comedy shows, and will play host to the 2026 World Junior Championship.
The Minnesota Wild expect to announce a new arena naming rights partner before the start of the 2025-26 NHL season.
