MINNEAPOLIS – A southern Minnesota woman is pleading guilty to collecting $360,000 in Social Security payments intended for her dead mother.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the mother of 54-year-old Mavious Redmond of Austin died in 1999, but Redmond continued to collect her mother’s benefits through June of 2024. Court records show Redmond impersonated her mother and visited a Social Security office to submit a fraudulent application.
Redmond’s sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
