
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KFGO) โ KFGO brought home a dozen Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association awards over the weekend.
The station won in several categories including newscast, weathercast, weather feature, sports play-by-play, sports programming, lifestyle, talk-public affairs and storytelling for the North Dakota farmer who recounted his escape from Ukraine, and podcast for Capitol Punishment, which details the events surrounding the indictment and eventual sentencing of former North Dakota state Senator Ray Holmberg.
Honored programs and personalities included News & Views with Joel Heitkamp, It Takes 2 with Amy Iler and JJ Gordon, Afternoons Live with Tyler Axness, Jack Michaels Sports, and Chief Meteorologist Tom Szymanski.
KFGO was the only Fargo-Moorhead or North Dakota radio station to win Eric Sevareid Awards during the associationโs annual conference in Minneapolis.
MBJA honors radio and TV stations and online organizations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska.
Sevareid was a North Dakota native and University of Minnesota graduate who was best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio and Television.
