ST. PAUL, Minn. โ Tornado warning sirens will sound at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Thursday as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota.
Interim Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Kevin Reed says the statewide tornado drills are about planning. He says they want people to practice what theyโre going to do if the warning sirens come on and there is a tornado coming.
Reed says the safest place in a home during a tornado is the basement and away from windows.
There were 41 tornadoes in Minnesota last year.
