WASHINGTON (KFGO/KVRR) โ President Trump welcomed the FCS National Champion NDSU Bison Football team to the White House Wednesday.
The president was presented a No. 47 Bison jersey with โTrumpโ written on the back by head football coach Tim Polasek. Wide receiver Braylon Henderson presented him with a Bison helmet.
NDSU athletic director Matt Larsen and Polasek shared thoughts on the season and thanked the president for the chance to visit Washington.
Also in attendance at The White House were former governor and current Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and his wife Kathryn Burgum, along with former South Dakota governor and current Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and current North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong.
The team also had lunch at the Capitol with Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Rep. Julie Fedorchak.
โThe NDSU Bison had a tremendous season, winning their 10th FCS championship, but not only that, they are great student athletes who represent our state well every day,โ said Hoeven. โWhen I asked President Trump about bringing the Bison to the White House, he agreed quickly and later even put together a nice video with me doing horns up. We appreciate President Trump honoring their achievements at the White House, and had a wonderful time hosting them at the U.S. Capitol. The players, coaches and staff are truly deserving of these honors and we look forward to all of their future successes.โ
