Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan (D-Minn.)
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) โ Former U.S. Sen. Al Franken is endorsing Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan in her bid for a senate seat.
Flanagan announced her candidacy after current Sen. Tina Smith announced she will not seek re-election next year. Franken served in the senate from 2009 until early 2018 when he resigned after sexual misconduct allegations, something he has said he regrets doing without an ethics investigation.
Over the years, Franken has kept people wondering if he would make a run again, saying he was keeping his options open and that he would be honored to serve. Last month, he announced he will not be running.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is also endorsing Flanagan.
