LUVERNE, N.D. (KFGO) – Steele County Sheriff Wayne Beckman says the search has ended for a suspect who ran after a Wednesday evening burglary-report near Pillsbury in neighboring Barnes County.
Two men were seen near equipment at a gravel pit. Beckman says the driver was arrested when his pickup went into a ditch.
George Jerome of Cavalier was still at large as the search continued. With the assistance of a farmer, Beckman says Jerome was located and arrested shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, hiding in a grove of trees. He was wanted on several outstanding warrants.
The Cass and Barnes County Sheriff’s Departments assisted in the search along with the U.S Marshal’s Service. Jerome was taken to the Barnes County Jail in Valley City.
