Rafael Buenfil (Otter Tail County Detention Center)
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A Fergus Falls man is in jail on fleeing and drug charges after a pursuit with Fergus Falls Police in a stolen car.
42-year-old Rafael Buenfil took off at high speed from an officer in a car with dealer license plates.
The officer discontinued the chase when the car driven by Buenfil reached speeds of more than 100 mph. A state trooper spotted the car and Buenfil was eventually arrested near Big Chief Truck stop on I-94.
Charges filed in Otter Tail County District Court say methamphetamine was found in the car.
A car dealership in Richfield, Minnesota told police that Buenfil took the car for a test drive two days before the chase, kept an extra set of keys and didn’t return the vehicle.
Buenfil is charged with fleeing law enforcement, 3rd degree drug possession, and failing to register as a predatory offender. He has past convictions of drug possession and fleeing.
