FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) โ A Fargo city commissionerโs motion to make city-owned property available for the new convention center, dies due to lack of a second.
John Strand wanted to make sure developers are aware that city-owned property downtown including the former Mid America Steel lot and Civic Center are available. Other commissioners say there isnโt enough room for expansion, and that the properties are already available without making a motion.
Charley Johnson of Visit Fargo-Moorhead says he wants to make sure that the planning for the convention center remains an open process.
โWe are expecting to get quite a few proposals and I think it would be great if we got something for one or both of these proposals that would be wonderful but they are going to be weighed against each other and we are going to get proposals for other parts of town,โ Johnson told the commission.
The commission also welcomed two young โMayor for a Dayโ essay winners: third graders Evelyn Anderson of Eagles Elementary and Ninjin Bat-Od of Bennett Elementary.
Their ideas include helping the environment, housing the homeless, and cutting taxes.
