FARGO (KFGO) – Cass County prosecutors have charged a man with a felony for leaving the scene of a fatal SUV-bicycle crash last month in Fargo.
Jeremy Wayne Jorgenson, 42, who listed addresses in Fargo and Hawley, Minnesota, is accused of running over 61-year-old Bernd Scholz of Fargo at the intersection of 10th Street North and NP Avenue on March 12.
State district court documents say Jorgenson told investigators that he thought he had struck a pothole. Witnesses said the SUV was stopped at a red light on 10th street, a one-way, and Scholz was on the ground. They reported that when the light turned green, the SUV began to drive over Scholz, backed up, went forward and ran over Scholz with the passenger side tires.
The state patrol later seized Jorgenson’s SUV and discovered fibers of clothing on the bottom of the vehicle.
The investigation by conducted by the patrol and Fargo police.
