MINOT, N.D. (KFGO-KVRR) – Minot Mayor Tom Ross resigned Tuesday afternoon after an investigation into sexual harassment, filed by City Attorney Stefanie Stalheim.
A special city council meeting was held to accept the findings of the two-month investigation. The investigation found Ross sent Stalheim a video of him masturbating on January 14.
Ross claims it was actually meant for his girlfriend and says he sent the video by mistake. He asked Stalheim not to view the video, delete it, and that the matter stay between them.
The incident happened while Ross and Stalheim were discussing the suicide of an officer who was under investigation.
Ross was first elected mayor of Minot in 2022.
The City Council appointed its president, Mark Jantzer, as acting mayor and plans to appoint a replacement to fill the remainder of Ross’ term which expires in June 2026.
