Man who was pulled from river in south Moorhead has died

MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Moorhead Police say a man who was pulled from the Red River in south Moorhead on Wednesday afternoon has died.

Moorhead Police, Moorhead Fire-Rescue and the Fargo Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a missing person in the area of the 4300 block of South River Haven Road at about 4:30.

Officers located a 63-year-old man from Moorhead unresponsive in the river. The Moorhead Fire Department deployed resources, and the man was removed from the river. Sanford Ambulance transported the victim to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. The man was later died. Police say the circumstances leading up to the man entering the water are still under investigation. The department does not believe there is a risk to public safety.

The body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, to assist in determining an official manner of death. The name is being withheld until notification can be made to family members.
