WILLISTON, N.D. (KFGO) โ A western North Dakota woman is charged with stealing over $1.4 million worth of copper from her employer.
According to court records, Jonna Stroh worked in sales for Fargo-based Dakota Supply Groupโs Williston location and was a certified forklift operator.
Between July and August of last year, Stroh is accused of loading spools of copper wire onto a trailer and taking them without permission. She was identified as a suspect during an internal investigation into the thefts.
Investigators say Stroh was paid $15,000 per spool by a Williston salvage company. Court records say Stroh wrote a note to Dakota Supply Group in October admitting to the theft and blaming it on being scammed in the crypto arena.
Several days later, Stroh emailed the company claiming she came up with a quarter of a million dollars in proceeds from the thefts and offered to send a cashierโs check.
Dakota Supply Group issued the following statement:
DSG is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency. In 2024, we discovered an incident involving theft by a former associate, which has been under investigation by local law enforcement. As employee owners, we take this matter very seriously and have taken immediate action to address the situation. We believe the former employee involved (no longer employed by DSG) acted alone.
We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and our insurance company to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action. Our priority remains the trust and confidence of our customers, employee owners, manufacturing partners, and communities.
