MINNEAPOLIS โ An annual U of M Extension report shows the stateโs ethanol industry is big business.
Brian Werner of the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association says the study highlights the economic benefits of corn-based fuel.
He says that showed that the industry statewide contributed a little over two billion dollars to the stateโs gross domestic product. That was based on 1.4 billion gallons of ethanol produced in 2024.
Werner says ethanol generated 1.2 billion dollars in income for Minnesota residents and paid 157 million dollars in state and local taxes last year. These numbers are down slightly from 2023.
