
ST. MICHAEL, N.D. (KFGO) – Three people are dead following a shooting on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in northeastern North Dakota.
The tribal council confirmed Tuesday afternoon that three tribal members were killed. A suspect was arrested.
A shelter-in-place that had been in effect for all residents of the reservation has been lifted. A lockdown had also been in place for the hospital in Devils Lake and the school in Minnewaukan.
The tribe is asking for empathy and understanding. The tribe is not releasing the names of those killed. The name of the suspect has not been released. He was apprehended at about 1:20 p.m.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs and FBI are investigating. The shooting was reported at about 9:20 Tuesday morning. Police across the state had been notified that the suspect was at large.
