
THOMPSON, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) — The Grand Forks Regional SWAT team responded to Thompson, North Dakota after a man barricaded himself in an apartment bedroom as deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant Sunday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office was serving the warrant on 44-year-old Joseph Rud for violating bond conditions around 10 a.m.
After confirming he was home, they knocked down the door and found a gun safe was opened with an empty rifle case and box of shells on top of the safe. Deputies retreated and called in the SWAT team.
After SWAT arrived, Rud surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
A loaded handgun was found in the home.
Rud faces additional charges including preventing arrest and felon in possession of a firearm.
