FARGO (KFGO) – Multiple crews and agencies responded to a fiery crash involving two semis on Interstate 29 in Fargo Friday morning.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes under the 19th Avenue N. overpass.
The Highway Patrol says a semi driven by a 72-year-old Brainerd, Minnesota man was merging onto the interstate after being stopped on the shoulder when it was rear-ended by a semi driven by a 66-year-old man from Manitoba, Canada. The semi that struck the merging truck and trailer started on fire. Fargo Fire crews put the fire out.
The trailer that got hit sustained significant damage. The semi truck that struck the trailer is a total loss.
The 66-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sanford Medical Center by ambulance.
The Highway Patrol says both trailers were empty.
The crash is under investigation.
