WASHINGTON (KFGO) – Minnesota U.S. Sen. Tina Smith traded barbs with Elon Musk on social media over the weekend in response to an order for all federal workers to report what they got done last week.
Musk, who serves as the department’s chief, posted the order on X, adding that it will be considered a resignation if the workers don’t respond to a coming email.
Smith responded to Musk’s post with tweets of her own, using colorful language to refer to him as a bad boss.
“I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss – there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, ‘prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else,” Smith wrote. “I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire a****** bosses.”
Smith went on to give her summary of what Republicans got done last week with a bullet-point list that included “defund Medicare and Medicaid,” “not to protect IVF funding,” “not to protect veterans’ healthcare,” “not to protect food assistance,” and other issues.
Musk asked Smith what she got done last week, to which the Democrat responded that Musk isn’t her boss.
“I answer to the people of Minnesota,” Smith wrote. “But since you bring it up, I spent last week fighting to stop tax breaks for billionaires like you, paid for by defunding health care for moms and babies.”
