
Fire destroys apartment in Wadena
WADENA, Minn. (KFGO) – The name of a man who died in a Sunday night apartment fire in Wadena in west-central Minnesota has been released.
He was David Henrichs, 68, of Wadena.
The blaze remains under investigation by the Wadena Fire Department and Minnesota Fire Marshal’s Office. It is not considered suspicious.
A dozen residents of the apartment building were displaced and temporarily stayed at hotels in Wadena. The National Guard Armory was later opened as a shelter. Use of the armory was authorized by Gov. Tim Walz following a request from Wadena County Sheriff Michael Carr.
The Red Cross and Salvation Army are working to find permanent housing for those who need assistance.
