HUNTER, N.D. (KFGO) โ A Northern Cass elementary school teacher got quite a surprise Friday morning when Milken Educator Awards Vice President Jennifer Fuller announced their 2024-2025 award winner.
Fuller presented the award to Jessica Stoen and made the announcement during an assembly featuring state school superintendent Kirsten Baesler.
Stoen, who teaches 2nd grade, was presented a $25,000 check and has the opportunity to travel to the Milken Educator Awards forum in Los Angeles in April. Stoen is a 2010 graduate of Valley City State University and earned her Masterโs at North Dakota State University.
The Milken Educator Award is hailed by many as the โOscar of teaching.โ It was created by philanthropist and education visionary Lowell Milken in 1987.
Stoen is the only recipient in North Dakota this school year and the first-ever in Northern Cass.
