ST. PAUL – Binary triggers are now illegal in Minnesota and a lawsuit filed by the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus claims passage of the law was unconstitutional.
Vice President Rob Doar says the massive omnibus bill had many provisions completely unrelated to the bill’s subject. He says, “We’re probably some of the first people with members and supporters who have been damaged because they’ve been forced to abandon property that they lawfully owned until the bill passed. So to go through the court door you have to have somebody who has been harmed by the law being passed.”
Doar says Minnesota gun owners have had to get rid of their binary triggers since the new law took effect on January 1st.
