FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo Police officer Andrew Dotas is returning to the force Monday.
Dotas and two other officers were ambushed by a gunman on 25th Street S. in July 2023.
Officer Tyler Hawes and bystander Karlee Koswick were also wounded. Hawes returned to the force last week.
Officer Jake Wallin was killed in the ambush.
Dotas and his wife, Hannah, will join host Joel Heitkamp on News and Views Monday morning as he shares his memories of that day.
He credits firefighters, who he says stayed even though they were not wearing bullet proof vests, with saving his life.
Dotas says he stays in contact with Wallin’s family and has a great relationship with them. He says Koswick reached out to him recently.
Dotas says relying on faith has been a cornerstone of the healing process and thanks the community for its support.
