FARGO (KFGO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is starting a Sheriff’s Quick Response Team, referred to as SQRT.
There are 10 deputies assigned to the team. These deputies will receive additional monthly training and equipment to better prepare them to respond to multi-location coordinated attacks, mass casualty events, active shooters, barricaded subjects, hostage rescue, and high-risk incident planning.
The goal is to have the team fully operational within the next two months.
The SQRT will be responsible for planning and attending significant gathering events this summer involving the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Jesse Jahner says they are aware larger cities have started to transition to this type of response in the wake of recent large event gatherings and violent tragedies.
