FARGO (KFGO) โ The Fargo City Commission approved the appointment of a city-run committee to develop proposals for the planning and design of a new convention center.
The goal is to submit the Request for Proposal to the City Commission for approval by the end of April. Once itโs approved it will be distributed to parties interested in joining a partnership with the City to build the convention center. The committee will reconvene to review the proposals and bring a recommendation to the City Commission for approval.
There will be 13 people on the committee, including President and CEO of Visit Fargo-Moorhead Charley Johnson and the City Commission. Initially, one city commissioner was recommended to be on the committee, but Commissioner Dave Piepkorn made a motion to include all five commissioners. The motion passed 3-2.
Johnson said there would be multiple proposals.
The convention center project was approved by Fargo voters in November 2024.
