
ROBBINSDALE, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) โ Charges are filed in Tuesday nightโs assault of a high school athlete during a prep basketball game at Robbinsdale Cooper High School in the Twin Cities.
Officials say a 17-year-old player on the visiting team from Fridley was hit on the top of his head with a tire iron by one person, and beaten and nearly stabbed by two others.
Court records filed Thursday show three males in their late teens are all charged with second-degree assault and second-degree riot.
The suspects are identified as Yahya Khanyare, 18, Dursa Mohamed, 18, and Ayub Ali, 19. Mohamed was also charged with fleeing a police officer.
Two juveniles were also arrested.
The teen who was attacked was taken to the hospital and needed six staples to close the laceration on his head.
