BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – A 54-year-old Brooklyn Park man is being held on probable cause-attempted murder after an arrest Thursday morning turned into a hazmat situation.
The arrest warrant involved local police, the FBI and the Minnesota National Guard’s 55th Civil Support Team and was related to an ongoing domestic violence investigation.
After the search warrant was served, investigators say the suspect was believed to be in possession of castor beans which are known to be highly toxic. Castor beans are a source for the extracting and concentrating of ricin, which can be used to make a potent biological weapon.
Several individuals were located inside the residence and were safely detained without incident.
Police say there’s no danger to the public.
