DULUTH, Minn. – The 2025 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon in northeastern Minnesota is postponed until March 2 due to unsafe trail conditions.
The board of directors says recent assessments revealed insufficient snow and ice along the 300-mile course from Duluth to Grand Portage.
The 40th annual running was scheduled for January 26. President Mike Keyport says postponing the race is the best option to ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs, mushers, and everyone involved.
The warm weather and lack of snow last winter canceled the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon.
