ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO/KVRR) — Gov. Tim Walz has called another special election to fill another vacancy in the legislature which has put the balance of power in play.
It will be held Jan. 28 to fill the seat of Democrat Sen. Kari Dziedzic who died Friday from ovarian cancer. She represented District 60 in Minneapolis.
Dziedzic’s death leaves the Minnesota Senate at a 33-33 split.
The other special election is for the House seat won by Curtis Johnson in District 40 B. A judge ruled the Democrat lied about his residency during the campaign.
That election will also be held Jan. 28 in a Democrat leaning district that covers Roseville and Shoreview.
