REEDER, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a three-vehicle crash near Reeder in southwestern North Dakota seriously injured six people while nine others received minor injuries. The crash happened at the junction of two state highways. There were high winds, blowing snow and sleet when the collision occurred.
A semi attempted to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, slid, and jackknifed. A large van and an SUV carrying children were unable to stop in time to avoid the semi. One hit the semi and the other rear-ended the trailer the van was towing.
Many of the injured are children. They were taken to hospitals in Hettinger and Bowman. Four of the injured were later transported to a Rapid City hospital. The semi driver, from California, was not injured. The van and SUV were traveling together, from Montana to McLaughlin, South Dakota.
