ST. PAUL—The Minnesota House author of the bill legalizing cannabis remains confident that the retail marketplace will open next year.
Representative Zack Stephenson of Coon Rapids says a judge postponing the pre-approval license lottery delayed the process.
He believes it will be in the first half of 2025. Stephenson says, “When the bill was passed, we said that it would be in the first quarter. We were hoping it would be the first quarter. So the delay is modest. It takes a long time to build a marketplace from scratch.”
Stephenson says applicants verified for the preapproval lottery will be entered into the general cannabis license lottery next spring.
