FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A Pelican Rapids man was arrested for taking an police officer’s taser and deploying it during an arrest last Saturday in Pelican Rapids.
A police officer and an Otter Tail County deputy were called to a home for a domestic argument when they encountered Cole Franzen, 28.
They told Franzen that he was under arrest when he ran. Franzen was subdued in the home’s entryway and a struggle began. Franzen, according to court documents, ended up on top of the deputy. He was tased. At that point, Franzen grabbed the officer’s taser and deployed it on the deputy. Franzen was eventually arrested and placed in a squad car.
Franzen has been charged with felony domestic assault, assault on a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, and a misdemeanor count of fleeing an officer. He remains in the Otter Tail County Jail in Fergus Falls.
