FARGO (KFGO-KVRR) – A former Fargo business owner who’s accused of leading a conspiracy to distribute cocaine in North Dakota, Minnesota and Florida has agreed to plead guilty.
Barrett Prody signed a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Fargo on November 1st. Prody is pleading guilty to conspiracy with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice, money laundering and continuing criminal enterprise.
Federal prosecutors say Prody’s organization was involved in the distribution of around 11 pounds or more of cocaine. According to a law enforcement affidavit, a confidential informant told investigators that they purchased up to $40,000 worth of cocaine from Prody.
Prody will be sentenced on February 19. One of the charges carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.
A judge also signed a preliminary order for Prody to forfeit a condominium in Florida, more than $108,ooo from an LLC and several guns and ammunition.
Prody is a former owner of JT Cigarro and O’Leary’s Pub.
