RED LAKE, Minn. (KFGO) – A Red Lake Public Safety Officer was killed in a car crash Wednesday morning.
Red Lake Department of Public Safety says Officer Jesse Branch was killed in a crash on Highway 1 east of Red Lake. Branch was responding to a call in his squad car. Red Lake tribal member Alan Lussier was also killed.
The Minnesota State Patrol and FBI are investigating the crash.
Gov. Tim Walz ordered flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Branch. Walz says Branch was known for his love and dedication to Red Lake Nation, where he selflessly served the community. Homes and businesses are also encouraged to lower their flags to honor Branch.
