FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo Police say an oversight by Red River Regional Dispatch Center led to people around the region receiving a shelter in place cancellation notice Sunday morning.
The cancellation was meant for people in the area of the 1800 block of 3rd and 4th Streets N. who earlier received an alert due to a man making threats with a gun.
“On Sunday morning, the Fargo Police Department collaborated with the Red River Regional Dispatch Center to issue a shelter-in-place alert for a specific area in response to an active situation. Following the resolution of the incident, the FPD requested the cancellation of the alert. Unfortunately, an oversight by RRRDC resulted in the cancellation notification being sent to all users rather than only those originally notified,” Neighborhood Services Capt. Matt Christensen said.
Christensen says Red River Regional Dispatch is reviewing their internal process to ensure this does not happen again.
