GARFIELD, Minn. (KFGO) – A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy was injured while providing traffic control for a crash on Interstate 94 in west central Minnesota Sunday night.
The deputy was parked with his squad car’s emergency lights activated and several flares placed on the road where a vehicle slid off the road and into the median. While the deputy was sitting in the parked squad car with his seat belt on, another vehicle rear-ended it at interstate speed.
The deputy and the driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the squad car were taken by ambulance to Alomere Health in Alexandria with serious injuries.
The State Patrol is investigating the crash.
