ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota’s cannabis license pre-approval lottery scheduled for Tuesday is on hold.
At least ten applicants filed a lawsuit against the Office of Cannabis Management, saying the state inappropriately rejected applicants.
The Office of Cannabis Management says about a third of the more than 1,800 applicants had advanced to Tuesday’s lottery.
At the end of a nearly one-hour hearing Monday morning, Ramsey County District Judge Judge Stephen Smith says there’s no lottery Tuesday. He sided with a group of applicants who had been denied access to the social equity pre-approval lottery. They sued over a process they argued had lacked clear criteria and that left no room for appeals.
