MEDINA, N.D. (KFGO) – A northwestern North Dakota man is in the Stutsman County jail after allegedly assaulting a Highway Patrol trooper and a county deputy on Interstate 94 east of Medina Saturday afternoon.
The Highway Patrol says the trooper responded to a report of a reckless driver on the interstate and made a traffic stop around 1:30 p.m. The trooper tried arresting the 37-year-old Angelo White for DUI, but he resisted and began fighting with the trooper who then called for help.
A Foster County Sheriff’s deputy responded and was also assaulted by White before other Highway Patrol troopers and Stutsman County deputies arrived and took him into custody.
White is facing a number of charges, including assaulting a peace officer, contacting law enforcement with bodily fluids, resisting arrest, DUI, DUI test refusal, and driving with a suspended license.
The trooper suffered minor injuries during the arrest.
