GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – Grand Forks has a new police chief.
Madison, Wisconsin Police Capt. Jason Freedman accepted the city’s offer and will take over the role Jan. 27. Freedman replaces Mark Nelson who retired in September after 36 years with the department.
“After a long and thorough process reviewing a great crop of internal and external candidates for this position, I am very confident in selecting Captain Freedman,” Mayor Brandon Bochenski said. “His policing experience and personal values will ensure that Grand Forks continues to be a safe community devoted to law and order.”
Freedman has over 27 years of experience in law enforcement. He is a SWAT commander with the Madison Police Department and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in History/Political Science/International Relations.
