FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) โ Pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated in Broadway Square and in front of Fargo City Hall Saturday, calling for an end of aid to Israel and the dismissal of two Fargo Police Officers for the fatal shooting of a suicidal man last week.
Fargo Police were called to the home of Peter Greco Wednesday for a report of a suicidal, armed man.
Officers spoke to Greco, and he came out of his home with a handgun. Two officers opened fire, striking Greco. He died at the scene.
โIf our police are not capable of safely deescalating a situation, then what are they here for?โ one protester asked. โThey shoot us when theyโre afraid of us and then they get paid administrative leave.โ
Protesters say the city desperately needs better mental health services to help people in crisis.
โPeter called several times, and clearly wasnโt receiving the proper help he needed for over a year. This is unacceptable,โthe protester said. โIt is our duty to demand a change. We hold the power to demand that Sgt. Lucas Mock and Officer Princeten Harris lose their positions and their paid leave for shooting a suicidal man on his own front steps. If we donโt make these demands, no one will and more of us will die.โ
The officers involved in the shooting, Sgt. Lucas Mock and Officer Princeten Harris, have been placed on paid administrative leave as the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation continues its investigation of the shooting.
