Senator John Hoeven issued the following statement regarding the election of Senator John Thune as the next Senate Majority Leader:
“I have known Senator Thune for years and he is a proven leader. Given our long-history of working together on issues important to the Dakotas, I supported Senator Thune and look forward to continuing to work with him as our next Senate Majority Leader,” said Hoeven. “All of the candidates for majority leader were committed to President Trump’s agenda and advancing policies to improve the lives of American families. Together with President Trump, we will work to secure the border, lower costs for American families, strengthen our small businesses including our farmers and ranchers, restore U.S. energy dominance, and support our military and veterans.”
The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives released the following statement:
“Senator Thune has been a champion of farmers and ranchers both in South Dakota and across the country. He is also strong supporter of farmer co-ops and has served as the co-chair of the Congressional Farmer Cooperative Caucus for a number of years. We look forward to working with Senator Thune next year on a number of issues—including tax extension and farm policy—that will bolster the economy, increase American competitiveness and ensure national security.”
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) congratulated Sen. John Thune (SD) for being selected as the next Senate Majority Leader:
“Senator Thune has long been a strong ally for cattle producers and is an excellent choice to secure meaningful relief for cattle producers as he leads the Senate,” said NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane. “Throughout his career, Sen. Thune has led the effort to repeal the federal estate tax and fought to ensure family farms and ranches are able to be passed down to future generations. With crucial tax provisions set to expire at the end of 2025, NCBA looks forward to continuing to work with the new Majority Leader to deliver critical tax relief to producers in the 119th Congress.”
