LUBANGO, ANGOLA (KFGO) – Angolan authorities say two suspects in the death of Detroit Lakes missionary Beau Shroyer have been arrested. A third suspect is still at large. Shoyer’s wife has also been arrested after what authorities are describing as a murder-for-hire scheme.
The Angolan Criminal Investigation Service says it’s thought Jackie Schroyer, 44, was having an affair with a security guard, Bernadino Elias, 24, who worked at the couple’s estate. The CIS says Jackie promised the security guard and two other men, 23-year-old Isalino Kayoo and 22-year-old Gelson Ramos, the equivalent of $50,000 USD to kill her husband.
CIS Superintendent of Criminal Investigation Manuel Halaiwa says it’s believed Jackie had Beau killed because she didn’t want to leave Angola when his mission work finished. All three suspects have criminal histories in Angola.
The CIS says the men rented a car October 25, and drove to a remote location. The men called Beau, claiming the car broke down. When Beau arrived, he was stabbed and killed. Authorities recovered an American-made knife that had been gifted to Elias at the scene.
Jackie Shroyer and Elias were arrested four days after the murder. Kayoo was arrested a few days later. Ramos has not been located
The five Shroyer children are being cared for, according to Pastor Troy Easton from the couple’s home church in Detroit Lakes.
