MANKATO, Minn. (KFGO) – A Blue Earth County District Court jury has convicted Adam Fravel of murder in the death of Madeline “Maddie” Kingsbury.
The jury began deliberating on Wednesday afternoon and returned the verdict late Thursday morning.
The 26-year-old Winona woman, who was also the mother of Fravel’s two children, vanished in late March of last year and her body was found in June of 2023 along a rural road in Fillmore County near property owned by Fravel’s family.
The jury found Fravel guilty on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. A first-degree murder conviction in Minnesota carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
The charges against Fravel allege his on and off relationship with Kingsbury included a history of physical abuse.
Fravel told investigators that his relationship with Kingsbury was ending and they were preparing to move out of their shared apartment in Winona. Fravel said Kingsbury had informed him that she had started seeing someone else about two weeks before her disappearance.
Sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 17.
