FARGO (KFGO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner has revealed that alternative polling locations had been selected as part of his departments added security for the election. Jahner says it was purely precautionary.
“We picked out four sites that we we’re going to use as back-up polling sites, should we receive some sort of a swatting call, or a hoax with a bomb threat-type situation, active shooter-type situation and some of the polling sites needed to be evacuated,” Jahner said.
Jahner said a Fargo police K9, certified in bomb detection, made a sweep of the optional polling precincts early Tuesday morning and the locations were secured.
“So what we wanted to do was make sure that we did a sweep of those particular polling sites prior to people even showing up to vote,” said Jahner.
The alternative sites were in Horace, the Harwood Community Center, El Zagel Shrine building in north Fargo and the Hartl Ag. Building at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo.
