MINNEAPOLIS – Prince’s only full-blooded sibling, Tyka Nelson, has died. Nelson’s family says she passed away on Monday morning at age 64.
Nelson, also a Minneapolis-based musician, remained involved in keeping Prince’s legacy alive. No cause of death was reported. She is survived by her sons, President and Sir, sisters Sharon and Norrine Nelson, and brother Omarr Baker.
Prince died on April 21, 2016, the result of an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl. He was found dead in an elevator at his Minnesota home. According Tyka Nelson, Prince spoke to her just days before he died.
