MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis police are still searching for suspects following Saturday morning’s deadly shooting at a homeless encampment not far from the intersection of Franklin and Hiawatha.
Two others were hurt in the shooting and remain hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara notes that whenever homeless camps pop up, crime increases in the vicinity. Authorities say the shooting happened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday at what they call a “small” homeless encampment at 21st St. E and 15th St. S.
One man who was shot died at the hospital.
It’s not known if the three men who were wounded were connected in any way.
