FARGO (KFGO) – The Metro Flood Diversion Authority Board has named their choice for the next Executive Director of the Fargo-Moorhead diversion project.
Jason Benson of West Fargo will be offered an employment package for the director position.
Benson is the county engineer for the Cass County Highway Department where he served as a senior technical advisor for the diversion project. He is also a brigadier general in the Minnesota Army National Guard currently deployed to the Middle East.
Benson’s deployment is expected to end by December and, if he accepts the position, he will take over the executive director role early next year.
Benson will take the place of co-executive directors, Fargo City Administrator Michael Redlinger and Cass County Administrator Robert Wilson. Redlinger and Wilson were appointed co-executive directors after Joel Paulsen abruptly resigned in April due to a contract dispute.
